RIT stood out in deciding where to attend college due to its focus on career preparedness and innovative technology. In learning that Saunders had small class sizes yet still had significant and diverse connections due to RIT's large size, I knew it could be a great location for the cultivation of personalized learning and opportunity.
My co-op bestowed upon me an incredible amount of responsibility, allowing me to grow as a student and as a true emerging professional. My favorite aspects were the amount of trust my co-workers had in me to take on any task they could provide and their willingness to grant me space and freedom to take a project and run with it. Being in a unique position that I had, the ability to learn quickly, think on my feet and experiment with new financial and database systems, all while still being in school, has been exceptionally beneficial in rounding out my academic career.
RIT not only shows their career-focus and goal-orientation in their mission but also in their overall spirit. All programs in Saunders are designed with the end in mind. We are not only receiving an education, but also a continuous mentorship in our paths to success. The material learned in core classes is current in what employers are looking for, and RIT faculty and staff are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure students are prepared for the real world.
One of the most beneficial aspects of Saunders is the co-op program. This allows students to experience real-life career positions while still under the guidance of their degree programs. Returning to classes after going on co-op provides students with a whole new perspective on the material, as they can better relate homework and projects to the tasks they performed at their co-op position and to what they could be doing after graduation.
