What is a "Good Leader"?
Saunders knows it can be difficult for businesses to find suitable managers, which is why we make a point to educate some of the best. With a strong focus on technology and multi-disciplinary studies, the Saunders management program prepares you to be able to confidently guide and help employees through critical problems in any field.
Becoming a 'T-Shaped' Manager
Management is not an easy field. Saunders educates 'T-shaped' leaders- leaders who have a deep disciplinary knowledge of the professional and personal skills that transcend disciplines. You go in depth on design thinking, working in cross-cultural teams to develop communication skills. As a management student you take courses that develop important skills relevant to managing processes and leading people, in addition to the Saunders business core courses to ensure a wide breadth of business knowledge. On top of all of that, you are given the chance to declare a 3-course liberal arts-based immersion and a 5-course minor in any of RIT's nine colleges.
All Saunders students get real-world, hands-on experience as a part of one of the oldest and largest cooperative education programs in the world. Co-op experience ensures that you are ahead of the curve upon graduation, ready to step directly into the workplace. Management student Ty Clauss explains, "The work experience Saunders students gain is a huge advantage. Co-ops are also a great way to test-drive different jobs so you can find one that you are both good at and find interesting." To prepare you further, Saunders provides an applied curriculum classroom experience, designed with the help of our Saunders Management Advisory Board. This board is comprised of professionals that are on the frontlines of the industry.
