8:10 a.m. update:

The Microelectronics and Engineering buildings (buildings 17 and 9) reopened just before 8 a.m.

The buildings had been closed since Henrietta fire crews and county hazmat responded to campus this morning after a gas alarm sounded about 4:45 a.m. in the Microelectronics Building (Building 17). The building was unoccupied, and no one was injured. As a precaution, the adjacent Engineering Building (Building 9) was also closed.

Hazmat teams thoroughly checked the buildings, and no problems were detected. Exams that were scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. were relocated, but regular exam schedules have resumed.
