Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching to be Presented to Dr. Hao Zhang

Dr. Hao Zhang, Associate Professor of Finance in Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology, has been selected as a recipient of the Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching for the 2018-2019 academic year. Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. in Finance from University at Buffalo in 2010 and has been a member of the RIT faculty for 9 years. Dr.

New Executive in Residence to Join Saunders College of Business

Karen Magnuson will now serve as an executive in residence at Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology. Recently retired, Magnuson held the position of executive editor at the Democrat and Chronicle (D&C) for 18 years, overseeing some revolutionary times at the paper including a switch to a digital-first mindset. Magnuson will bring many years of professional experience with her and a commitment to diversity and fostering community engagement.

Mapping Artificial Intelligence at RIT

Dhireesha Kudithipudi and Christopher Kanan are professors with different kinds of students. Their classrooms are labs, and the students are high-tech computers they are "teaching to think."

Saunders College of Business closed out the 2017-2018 academic year with many honors and awards for both itself and its faculty.



RIT/NTID honor society inducts 26 new members

Rochester Institute of Technology's National Technical Institute for the Deaf inducted 26 new members into the Delta Xi chapter of the Epsilon Pi Tau honor society at a ceremony on May 1.

Epsilon Pi Tau recognizes the academic excellence of students in fields devoted to the study of technology and the preparation of practitioners for the technology professions. Epsilon Pi Tau also extends the honor of membership to outstanding practitioners in the technology professions, to scholars, and/or to persons who have significantly supported or advanced technology professions.

Saunders Faculty Receive Tenure

Three Saunders College of Business faculty members were announced as tenure recipients. Dr. Bryan Reinicke, Dr. Joy Olabisi and Dr. Qian Song will receive tenure.

Reinicke, who obtained his Ph.D. in Information Systems from Indiana University in 2007, teaches many Management Information Systems (MIS), Marketing and Digital Business classes.

Olabisi is an assistant professor, focusing on Management, International Business and Entrepreneurship. She obtained her Ph.D. from University in Michigan in 2009 in Industrial & Operations Engineering.

Saunders Student Awarded NYSSCPA's Excellence in Academic Achievement Award

Saunders College of Business student, Danni Wang, was awarded the New York State Society of CPA's 2018 "Excellence in Academic Achievement Award."

RIT honors its researchers

 Rochester Institute of Technology honored researchers who served as principal investigators on active awards in fiscal year 2017 at an April 18 reception.

Also recognized were the 19 recipients of Seed Funding Awards and 10 new inductees in RIT's PI Millionaires. 

RIT investigator efforts led to $60 million in research funding in the 2017 fiscal year.

SCB visiting lecturer honored with outstanding teaching award

Philip Gelsomino can be described in many ways-among them are honest, straightforward, compassionate, boisterous and just plain loud. In fact, the visiting lecturer in the Saunders College of Business says his booming voice and near constant movement in the classroom help to keep his students engaged and interested in the subject material. These qualities, along with 32 years of experience owning several small businesses including a public accounting firm, have earned Gelsomino RIT's Outstanding Teaching Award for Non-Tenure Track Faculty.
