Valeria Martinez, Management Information Systems student in the Class of 2020, is finishing up an exciting semester abroad, spending time in Cape Town, South Africa; Madrid, Spain; and Rome, Italy.

"This last semester, I had the privilege of studying abroad with the CIEE Open Campus program. I studied in Cape Town, South Africa; Madrid, Spain; and Rome, Italy. I am grateful for the opportunity to be exposed to each country's food, music, nature, politics, history, and more! It has been a humbling experience and I am excited to continue growing through experiential learning."

When offering advice to students deciding if they should take the chance to study abroad, Val said "..don't be afraid to take risks and leave your comfort zone. We only have one chance to travel to new places and immerse ourselves for so much time at once - so meet new people, try new foods, dance to music you've never listened to before and enjoy yourself. Most importantly, do it for yourself and allow yourself to grow through embracing this experience."

Following her time studying abroad, Val has plans to continue traveling independently for two weeks before returning home to complete a co-op at Allstate over the summer.
