Business Activities Center (BAC)

Located in Saunders College of Business, the Business Activities Center (BAC) is a large, open floor plan used for big classrooms and events. The BAC also divides into two smaller rooms for simultaneous usage.

Business Enterprise Systems (BEST) Lab

The Business Enterprise Systems (BEST) Lab at Saunders College of Business features 38 computer workstations with the latest software releases. Saunders students can easily print to the lab's printers at no cost. Classroom instruction in the lab is made easy as the instructor's station is connected to two projectors. Features:

  • 38 computer stations
  • Windows 10, Adobe Creative Suite, Minitab, Microsoft Office, SPSS, SAP, and more
  • Two projectors and instructor station optimized for classroom instruction

Dr. Philip R. Tyler Active Learning Classroom

In 2017, Saunders College of Business dedicated the Dr. Philip R. Tyler Active Learning Classroom in honor of an associate professor emeritus of marketing who taught at Rochester Institute of Technology for 38 years. Philip Tyler, also a Saunders alumnus - '65 Business Administration - had a lasting impact on the college and the students he taught. His special recognition, as best captured by the Phil Tyler Room Dedication Facebook Group page highlighting stories of Dr. Tyler, made this dedication possible to bring new technology to the newly renovated Saunders classroom. The classroom features:

  • Digital smartboard
  • Modular, reconfigurable layout
  • Self-contained pods designed for collaboration, with three individual computer hookups to allow for group use of monitors
  • RIT ID access

 

E. Philip Saunders Exhibit in Atrium

The E. Philip Saunders Exhibit was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Saunders College of Business being named after its namesake and donor. The dedication ceremony also recognized the culmination of the Saunders Challenge, raising $20 million, thanks to Mr. Saunders generosity in matching gifts and visionary leadership.

Global Business Solutions Lab

The Global Business Solutions Lab at Saunders College of Business is equipped with 30 computer workstations. Each computer is maintained with the latest software releases and features a webcam. Printing is free from lab computers for all Saunders students. The lab has:

  • Projector and instructor station optimized for classroom instruction

Henry's Kitchen

Henry's Kitchen, part of Henry's Restaurant, is used for both teaching and production and was designed to accommodate several equipment pieces, including; an ice cream maker, a panini sandwich press, a combi-oven, steam-jacketed kettles, a roll-in cooler and a tilting braising pan. The state-of-the-art point of sale system with handheld ordering devices helps keep the orders flowing from the kitchen to the guest's tables. 

Henry's Kitchen is used to support the Saunders College of Business Restaurant and Event Management class and is certified according to all health regulations. Students rotate through essential management functions within the course, such as menu design, food preparation and ordering, cost controls, forecasting, scheduling, service, profit and loss statements and county health inspections.

Henry's Restaurant

Henry’s Restaurant, named after Mr. Henry Lomb of Bausch & Lomb, is a fully operational restaurant that serves as a ‘living’ laboratory for Saunders College of Business students in the Food and Beverage Management, Food Cost Control and Restaurant operations classes in which they learn about the intricacies of restaurant service, kitchen management, inventory controls, cost controls and associate management. Henry's can also be set up classroom style and is used for miscellaneous classes such as Beers of the World and Wines of the World.

IHSI Computer Lab

The Saunders College of Business International Hospitality and Service Innovation (IHSI) lab has several general and program-specific software packages and is open to all RIT students. Only students enrolled within Saunders College of Business are able to print at this lab.

IHSI Food Production Lab

The Saunders College of Business IHSI Food Production lab is used primarily for courses such as the Principle of Food Production and Food Innovation and Development. Sanitation standards are maintained in the kitchen, including required food service uniforms. The classroom/computer end of the room is sometimes used by other IHSI courses that may require projects done using the software on the computers in this room.

Lobozzo Center for Executive Education

The Lobozzo Center for Executive Education at Saunders College of Business offers C-Suite accommodation for executive programs and learning. Executive MBA and Custom Executive Education students experience all the accommodations they experience in their corporate settings. The room is fully equipped with the latest technology including three 90-inch monitors, allowing students to share their screens with the class. Additional features include telepresence conferencing, and internet bandwidth to support all mobile devices. Tiered seating, leather executive chairs, and optimized acoustics ensure the very best-in-class executive experience.

REDCOM Active Learning Collaboratory

At Saunders College of Business, you can experience an active learning classroom that supports interactive learning and features CISCO Telepresence for connecting interactively with Global Campuses and corporate partners around the world. In Saunders' Active Learning Collaboratory, learning activities are student-centered and supported through a combination of digital and traditional displays. Multiple lines of sight facilitate visual presentations and easily configurable desk arrangements. Between individual student and team presentations, sharing information has been made far more accessible. The REDCOM room supports the following Saunders initiatives: The Freshman Experience: Biz 1+2, Global Lab, case-based learning, and interdisciplinary capstone projects. The room features:

Sklarsky Center for Business Analytics

The Sklarsky Center for Business Analytics at Saunders College of Business houses Saunders' Bloomberg Financial Markets technology. Students utilize the lab to gain real-world business, finance, and macroeconomic experience in the classroom. Sixteen workstations provide students access to the same information and tech relied on by financial professionals globally. The lab helps students gain an edge in the competitive job market and features:

  • 12 computer workstations with Bloomberg Financial Markets software
  • Wireless sharing to promote collaboration and guide instruction
  • Movable free-standing desks and digital whiteboard to facilitate collaboration and group work
  • S&P 100 Index stock market ticker
  • RIT ID card access

 

Student Learning Center

Located in Saunders College of Business, the Student Learning Center is a dedicated study lounge for graduate and undergraduate students available 24 hours a day. Quiet and closed-off from the bustling Atrium, the study center features comfortable lounge chairs, private desks, and computers that are up-to-date with the latest software specific for tutoring sessions.

Zutes Atrium and PIT Area

The Zutes Atrium and PIT Area located in Lowenthal Hall, Saunders College of Business is a comfortable and popular place for the Saunders community to gather, get ready for classes, go over team projects, or catch up with each other. Three informational screens share the latest college information with details on upcoming events and club meetings as well as a live cable business news feed.
