The new media marketing program's uniqueness combined with the co-op requirement really felt like a good fit for me. I enjoy hands-on learning, and several of my classes allowed me to work on real projects with campaigns that involved real money. It showed what results look like from the work that I put in on the projects. All of these hands-on projects set me up for success when I did my first co-op. The co-ops that I completed let me work in a variety of industries and helped me build my network and skill set.
As a Digital Marketing Specialist, I cover a range of various marketing efforts. I work remotely and collaborate with our small marketing team to cover all the marketing needs of our 11+ states. I manage more than seven social media profiles for our company, from interacting with customers to creating and executing social campaigns and everything in between. I coordinate and monitor ads for our products and services to reach the correct target audiences and provide results. Sometimes I travel to participate at various conferences, from trade shows to educational conventions. I'm also on a team that works on testing and implementing improvements to our app, The Phillips Machinist. Besides our external promotions, I'm working on several internally promoted campaigns. Overall, I do the planning, designing, and analyzing our marketing efforts.
Saunders was unique in the fact that even though I was a New Media Marketing major, I got to see a lot of different aspects of how a business functions. We took classes covering accounting, management, and more, which really help fill in the big picture. Understanding how business works as a whole helps you understand where you fit in the puzzle with your specific role.
