I personally enjoy being a part of a smaller school with large school facilities. The professors and staff want to know you and learn about you. I love the atmosphere here. Saunders has tons of events and resources for students to do their best, both academically and socially.
Working at Davie Kaplan (DK) was a great experience. I was a tax intern in the spring of 2017. I was the only full-time co-op, so I was able to take on more responsibilities. This was a great first co-op. I didn't have much experience with taxes before, and they are super helpful in teaching you everything. Everyone is friendly and available to talk. The interns and a few employees would get lunch together about once a week and hang out. DK also hosts happy hours and social events occasionally. The interns were very included in events and encouraged to ask questions.
The classes provided at Saunders directly relate to what I was doing in the accounting industry. The main accounting class; financial/managerial, tax, auditing, etc., helps set a foundation. Doing the work yourself is the best way to learn, but the classes I have taken and continue to take give me a base of knowledge to go off of.
I think the numerous opportunities at Saunders is the biggest advantage. There are constantly companies coming here looking specifically for Saunders students. Saunders has built an amazing reputation for itself. Saunders is always getting better and working to provide more for its students to succeed.
