When I visited Saunders for the first time, I said to my parents, "I belong to this place". I visited many other colleges, but I knew that coming to RIT was going to be the right decision for me. The support I got from the faculty and staff since the first day was amazing because they genuinely want you to succeed, and they will provide all the right resources for you to do that.
My favorite part about my co-op at BMW was that it allowed me to work on different projects that were essential for the production and solving real-world problems and experiences. I worked on multiple projects and presented them to the department management team. I also loved the working environment, my colleagues made me feel that I was part of the team from the first day, and everyone was willing to help me out and answer my questions. My internship was for summer and fall, and there was not one day that I did not have anything to do. I always was occupied with important tasks and topics and learning and meeting new people every day. I was assisting the work-package lead for lineside planning for the X3, X4, and X5.
Saunders prepared me for the job market by building up my confidence to take the chances and apply to big corporations. I would never imagine having the opportunity to work for a big company like BMW. Saunders and RIT provided me with the resources to prepare for the real world by helping to build a strong resume with skills that I acquired in my classes and past job experiences, and also providing mock interviews to practice with real-world recruiters and with the support of faculty and advisors along the way.
I believe the diversity of working with people from different backgrounds is Saunders' most distinctive advantage. Class discussions help me better understand other people's points of view and prepare myself to understand the people's perspective in the real world working environment.
