The RIT Entrepreneurs Conference is an inspirational hub and day of learning on how to start a business. The annual event is for anyone who believes that creativity and bold thinking are vital to success. Guest panelists - academic and real-world practitioners - will link theory and practice, in spirited dialogue with participants, as they share their innovation stories, techniques, and ideas that have established them as leaders in their respective fields and industries.

Saunders College of Business and the Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship were proud to host Mark Gentile for the annual RIT Entrepreneurship Conference. Mark is the Founder of Odyssey Software and Chief Architect for Enterprise Endpoint Security Products at Symantec Corporation.

In addition to Mark's keynote presentation, the conference consisted of entrepreneurship-related sessions, including Social Media and Marketing in Entrepreneurial Ventures, Digital EntrepreneurshipIntellectual Property and the Entrepreneur, and more.

The entrepreneurship conference was a day filled with 12 sessions, including "Innovation in Health Care," "Success: Fueled by Failure," "Social Media and Marketing for the Entrepreneur," and "Legal and Intellectual Property in Entrepreneurship. RIT also welcomed Nathan Coleman, Saunders alum and CEO of Elephant Pants.

September 29- October 1, 2016 - GCEC

In 2016, RIT and the University of Rochester had the unique opportunity to host the 2016 Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC). This conference brings together individuals and organizations who are interested in entrepreneurship to share best practices, to develop programs and initiatives, and to strengthen the role of universities in teaching future entrepreneurs. Keynote speakers included Victor Hwang, Vice President of Entrepreneurship at the Kauffman Foundation; Craig Dubitsky, Founder and CEO of Hello Products; and Jeff Hoffman, previous CEO of multiple companies, such as,, CTI, and Color Jar, and successful entrepreneur.

Saunders College of Business and the Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship teamed up to host 12 entrepreneurship-related sessions and national keynote speakers at the RIT Entrepreneurs Conference. Robert LaTorre, a graduate of RIT and renowned entrepreneur, was featured as the keynote speaker. His remarks, insights and Q&A session are available for viewing online.

Previous keynote speakers include Scott Wilson, Founder and Principal Designer of MINIMAL, Austin McChord, Founder and CEO of Datto, Inc., and Kevin Surace, CEO of Appvance.
