Entrepreneurship is a central tenet of the Saunders College of Business. All the way from conception to commercialization, we strive to provide students with a sense of what drives the best entrepreneurs and innovators, so that they can put such skills into practice as well.

We’re fortunate to have many alumni who exude this, those who have undertaken in new and creative business endeavors themselves. Gloria Metrick is one such individual. A graduate of the College of Business’s class of 1996, her business, GeoMetrick Enterprises, has recently been recognized as the Best Laboratory Informatics Solutions Company - USA by Global Health and Pharma (GHP) Magazine’s International Life Sciences Awards.

Geo Metrick Enterprises specializes in working with, setting up, and consulting other businesses on their Laboratory information management systems (LIMS). Helping a diverse selection of enterprises – both in industry and size –not only on how to collect big data, but on how to make the most out of such information.

Recipients of GHP Magazine’s International Life Sciences Awards are according the publication, “firms, departments and individuals who are dedicated to producing innovative new ideas which will drive the industry forward.”

Speaking about the recognition, Metrick herself thanked whomever nominated GeoMetrick Enterprises, “this remains a mystery, but I want you to know I appreciate you, whoever you are.”

Here at Saunders, we plan on continuing to impart the knowledge and enterprising mindset those like Metrick demonstrate. Through unique programs like Biz 1-2 and a selection of RIT resources (including the Venture Creations Incubator, Saunders Student Consulting, over 200 clubs, and the #1 student innovation center in the nation) Saunders has built a strong entrepreneurial culture both in and out of the classroom.
We once again extend our utmost congratulations to Gloria Metrick.
