Maggie Brooks joined RTS in January of 2016 and brings almost 40 years of diverse experience to her job as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. In her RTS role, Maggie now brings a dedicated, focused transportation perspective to critical community initiatives involving economic growth, revitalization and poverty reduction in our community. Her record of leadership and accomplishment make Maggie uniquely qualified to raise awareness and educate key stakeholders about the mission and vision of RTS and the value of the maintenance and growth of public transportation.

In her role as VP of Strategic Initiatives, Maggie sits on the Policy committee of the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative, the Pathways to Prosperity workgroup of the Finger Lakes Economic Development Council, and is tasked with ensuring that public transportation is included at the front end of planning for projects prioritized and funded by the Upstate Revitalization Initiative.

Previously, Maggie served 12 years as Monroe County Executive overseeing a government operation with 4,500 employees and a $1-billion dollar budget, giving her broad reach and expertise in many areas of public policy and services including transportation. For 12 years, including 2 years as Chairman, Maggie Brooks served on the Genesee Transportation Council, the regional planning organization for transportation and infrastructure priorities and spending.

Prior to that she was the Monroe County Clerk, a Monroe County Legislator and was VP of Programming for a satellite radio network, Companion Radio. She also spent nearly 17 years as a broadcast journalist in the Rochester region.
