Admissions Requirements

Minimum GPA and Exam Scores

Saunders College does not specify minimum test scores, as the entire application - including high school performance, TOEFL or IELTS score (international applicants only), SAT or ACT score, resume, Advanced Placement (AP) credits, dual-enrolled college credits, and personal statement - is evaluated for admittance into Rochester Institute of Technology.

ACT (Composite)



We require students complete Algebra and Geometry and recommend Trigonometry and Pre-calculus along with a strong selection of courses emphasizing communications/writing in High School.

Applying Previously Acquired Credits

Advanced Placement Credit

You may receive college credit for your Advanced Placement (AP) exam credit. Submit your official test scores to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions from the College Board Testing Center (, in order to have your scores reviewed for credit, per our AP credit table.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

RIT recognizes International Baccalaureate level work. You may receive credit for higher-level examinations completed with a grade of five or better. Each department will determine the specific amount of credit awarded.

Transfer Credit (Dual-Enrollment Coursework)

Transfer credits for relevant coursework is considered where a grade of C or better is earned at a regionally accredited college or university. You must submit official transcripts, which are reviewed on a course-by-course basis. RIT also reviews work performed in courses and training programs evaluated by the American Council on Education (e.g., ACE, CLEP, DANTES, etc.). Minimum acceptable scores vary by course and major.
