Marketing at Saunders

Not all math is complex

Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology knows that the equation for greatness is the product of business and technology integrated into marketing. That’s why Saunders takes advantage of the resources of a leading tech school with unprecedented drive to create and think strategically.

Marketing vs. new media marketing

Saunders is home to marketing and new media marketing degree programs. These programs each feature a business core. Students spend their first year immersing themselves in Biz 1+2 where they learn the central elements of entrepreneurship and get introduced to all functional areas of a business. This foundation is referred back to and built upon over the course of study.

The marketing program is more traditional, where students learn about research, strategy, goal setting and fulfillment and brand building through customer relationship management. They take classes in internet marketing, advertising, and consumer behavior to understand a wide scope of business-consumer relationships.

New media marketing goes beyond the traditional curriculum to develop an understanding of web design, content generation, social media, and search engine advertising. Students study analytics, visualization, strategy, planning, and execution. The program focuses on the newest technology being used to break through to customers, preparing students for a job in the digital age.

Technology and innovation: on the cutting-edge

Saunders College of Business is #1 in Western NY, ranking #62 nationally for undergraduate business programs in the U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” rankings, moving up two places from last year. To prove it, last year RIT teams swept the Rochester American Marketing Associations' annual collegiate competition, winning both first and second place against other Rochester area business schools.

RIT is one of the few places marketing students are given a technical edge and access to any of the nine other colleges to diversify their knowledge and skill set. Students walk away from Saunders with a deep understanding of their major along with an immersion and minor (if chosen to declare one). This kind of variety is highly sought after and is greatly encouraged by our marketing advisory board.

Both of these programs guarantee real-world experience through cooperative education experiences with companies like our corporate partners. These experiences coupled with the applied classroom curriculum developed by our advisory board has students ready for the workforce upon graduation.

For students that have a passion for communication or digital advertising – marketing or new media marketing at Saunders may be a perfect fit. Check out our student spotlights and discover where Saunders students have worked!
