Finance at RIT

Saunders College of Business prepares students with a deep understanding of financial systems, including public, private and government spaces. Finance students are presented with the opportunity to become an expert in cash-flow analysis, capital markets, financial decision-making, and forecasting.  They engage in theory-based discussion and hands-on learning through an applied curriculum developed with the help of the Saunders’ Finance Advisory Board.

RIT finance majors can be found in the Sklarsky Business Analytics lab working at one of 12 Bloomberg terminals, tracking financial data in real time. Big data is no stranger to the students in this well-equipped lab, as they are taught to use technology to drive their decisions for precise results utilizing software such as IBM SPSS Statistics, Microsoft Visual Studio, Minitab, SAP GUI, SAP Hana, SAP Lumira, and Tableau.

If the classroom isn't enough...

Saunders gives students the opportunity to join the RIT Financial Management Association (FMA), which handles a real $200,000+ portfolio. The FMA also participates in the annual Adirondack Cup Competition where students form and manage a hypothetical small cap portfolio for six months. They compete against dozens of other schools and at the end of the six months, the team with the best return wins.

Students also have the chance to diversify their learning within Saunders College or in any of RIT's nine colleges by declaring immersions and minors. This coupled with the Saunders business core and co-op experience makes students well-rounded, ready-to-go professionals with a big-picture mentality.

Saunders College of Business is #1 in Western NY, ranking #62 nationally for undergraduate business programs in the U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” rankings, moving up two places from last year.
