Dr. Hao Zhang, Associate Professor of Finance in Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology, has been selected as a recipient of the Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching for the 2018-2019 academic year. Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. in Finance from University at Buffalo in 2010 and has been a member of the RIT faculty for 9 years. Dr. Zhang has had his research published in numerous journals including Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Review of Finance, etc.
RIT has recognized teaching excellence through the Awards for Outstanding Teaching since 1965. As an award recipient, Dr. Zhang is being commended for his professional growth and extensive contributions to enhancing student learning. This is the highest teaching award that a faculty member can receive at RIT, with Dr. Ellen Granberg, Provost of RIT, saying “she was very impressed by [his] academic achievements.”
Within Saunders College, Dr. Zhang’s accomplishment has not gone unnoticed. “I think it is wonderful that such an outstanding researcher is also being recognized for excellence in teaching,” says Dean Jacqueline Mozrall. “Dr. Zhang is an exceptional teacher-scholar and truly embodies this ideal.”
RIT will be hosting the 2019 Celebration of Teaching and Scholarship to honor the faculty that have received university level awards on Tuesday, April 16 at 4:30 pm in Ingle Auditorium. This will be followed by a reception in the Fireside Lounge beginning at 5:15 pm.
Dr. Zhang will also be formally recognized for his achievement at Academic Convocation on Friday, May 10 at 10 am in the Gordon Fieldhouse. He is also invited to participate as a member of the platform party in full academic regalia.
