Co-op and Career Services

The Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education places more than 4,500 students in more than 6,200 co-op positions each year. Tap into a worldwide network of nearly 140,000 RIT and 25,000 Saunders Alumni.

All Saunders College students get real-world work experience before leaving the classroom. Cooperative Education, or co-op, is the chance to gain meaningful work experience before you graduate. It helps you further define your career path and fully realize the value of what you are learning in the classroom. Rochester Institute of Technology has one of the oldest and largest cooperative education programs in the U.S.

Cooperative education is a unique kind of education. It is different from summer employment and different from an internship. Co-op employment is full-time, paid, productive work experience in your field of study. It is full-time status equivalent, meaning that while you are on co-op, you are not required to pay tuition. Your co-op responsibilities will increase in complexity and challenge according to your academic level.
