The Management Information Systems (MIS) major provides a unique experience that combines business analytical skills with technological expertise. It focuses on the application of digital technologies to support business procesess. The curriculum prepares students with a systematic approach to solve real world business problems while having fun with integrating the latest digital technologies into the solutions.

In addition to technology, students are prepared for soft skills such as communication skills, leadership, business analysis and project management skills that are key factors to success in today's business world.

Career opportunities in MIS are excellent because of this combination of business skills and technology. The average starting salary of the MIS graduates is the highest of all SCB majors, and among top 5 of all undergraduate majors at RIT.  The typical positions for MIS graduates include System Analysts, Business Analysts, IT project managers, ERP Analysts, etc.

MIS Job GrowthAccording to a recent Bureau of Labor Statistics survey, system analysts with a combination of business and technical skills are one of the fastest growing occupations. MIS graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems. The curriculum consists of business core courses, the MIS major, the general studies, and cooperative education.
