A senior scholar and co-editor of Inequality.org, at the Institute for Policy Studies, Chuck Collins has long been a voice on issues pertaining to wealth inequality. On Monday March 6th from 4:00PM-5:00PM Collins will be speaking at RIT in the Golisano Auditorium. It will be an opportunity hear the perspective of someone who themselves has worked extensively towards reducing inequality and strengthening communities.
Growing up wealthy but giving away his inheritance at the age of 26, Collins is a uniquely qualified authority on Economic Inequality. Collins has been both a frequent activist and writer on the issue. The works he has penned include ”99 to 1”, “Wealth and Our Commonwealth” (with Bill Gates Sr.), “ The American Prospect”, and many more; as well as numerous contributions to several magazines and news outlets. Collins has also cofounded several initiatives and efforts that seek to address the issues he often will try to bring to the forefront. His organizations include Divest-Invest and United for a Fair Economy.
RIT’s Department of Public Policy and Saunders College of Business' Institute for Business Ethics and Social Responsibility are to thank for facilitating Collins’ talk. The latter, directed by Dr. Sandy Rothenberg, is dedicated to ensuring research and students’ curriculums alike emphasize the ethical standards needed in the world of business; including every effort done in service to the Rochester community.
