Brian Hinman, considered a pioneer in the computer-based communication industry, was recently announced as the May 2011 commencement speaker at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
A holder of 18 US patents in areas such as electrical circuits, algorithms, optics and industrial design, Hinman is a venture partner at Oak Investment Partners, executive chairman of GreenVolts, Inc., and executive chairman of Aurora Algae, Inc.
Hinman earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland and his master's degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
