Kate's heart is in customer service and through the years has worked as a grocery store manager, a paraprofessional in an elementary school and a certified Home Health Aide before coming to RIT. Kate started her career at RIT in 2006 at Campus Connections, the campus bookstore at that time, as Asst. Financial Manager. She remained at the bookstore as it transitioned to Barnes & Noble and moved to the current Park Point location, becoming the head of finance operations. This new role included many new responsibilities, the most notable of which was the management of all of the Vocational Rehabilitation(VR) accounts there. This required acting as liaison between the state and federal offices, NTID and the bookstore to coordinate VR support for the near 1,000 students receiving VR benefits. She has remained a seasonal employee of Barnes & Noble @RIT, helping with the accounts receivable end of VR during the busy seasons throughout the year.
After 5 years of being secluded in an office all day, however, Kate found she missed working with people face-to-face which is what attracted her to her current position in Saunders Student Services.
