John Ward has been a marketing and international business lecturer at the E. Phillip Saunders College of Business since 2005. Ward graduated with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech in 1984. After serving as a cooperative education student with Eastman Kodak he joined the full time staff and remained for 20 years in a variety of engineering, sales, marketing and general management positions.
After completing the Executive Masters in Management program at Purdue, Ward became the Chief Marketing officer for a Hewlett Packard and Eastman Kodak joint venture, Phogenix Imaging in 2001. Kodak gave Ward an Expat opportunity in Geneva Switzerland as a lead manager in the European, African and Middle Eastern regions. His time abroad fueled an interest in global business and would later prove to be a valuable asset for the RIT community.
With his Expat ending in 2005, Ward, looking for a new challenge, decided to bring his experience and interest in international business and marketing to the SCB. He co-developed a major part of every Saunders student's experience, the Biz 1-2-3 First Year innovation sequence for which he was published in BizEd. Since 2010 Ward has conducted four international trips to China and the Czech Republic for the Executive MBA Program. He finds traveling with students, on all levels to foreign businesses and government offices a rewarding experience. Ward has recently been cited for his views on Eastman Kodak and the imaging market in publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and CNN International to name a few.
